Dear Portland/SUS/Molly’s fund,
I am thrilled to be a part of Serving Up Style 2013 and can’t wait for my first visit to Portland this October! This event combines two things I am passionate about: interior design and philanthropy. I’m also beyond excited to see what the Pacific Northwest design community has to offer firsthand!
As many of you know, I won HGTV’s “Design Star” season seven, so I know what it’s like to be in fierce, but friendly, competition with other designers and industry peers. Serving Up Style will be a great opportunity for me to lend my experience and design “eye” to those competing at this event. I am thrilled to turn the tables and experience being a judge for the very first time. Believe me, I know what it’s like to be on the receiving end so I promise I’ll be gentle. Well, not too gentle!
For me, it’s not just about the competition but the chance to give back to our communities in unique ways. What better way to do this than by partnering with Molly’s Fund to raise money through this event to benefit Lupus research and treatment. I can say from personal experience that having resources like Molly’s Fund when dealing with chronic illnesses is a relief and a solace. And I am proud to be part of a larger design community that seeks to make our world a better place.
Portland, get ready! This is gonna be a great event that brings together the area’s talent for some design fun. I’m looking forward to meeting you all next month!
