Serving Up Style centers around a design competition and four day showcase. Each year, design teams are invited to create fantastic, whimsical, and stunning dining room environments. In 2013, awards were given recognizing excellence in eight different categories.

Here are the amazing dining rooms that won the 7 prestigious awards at the 2013 Serving Up Style: Designers Fighting Lupus!  Thank you to our fantastic design teams, sponsors, guests, volunteers, staff, Marketing Committee, Board of Directors, the HBA of Porltand, Portland Home and Garden Show, O’Loughlin Trade Shows, and everyone else who made this amazing event possible and a huge success!  People’s Choice vote winner from was Yes Spaces.

I wanted to do something that would make a difference in people's lives. 185 butterflies were chosen because 1 in 185 people have lupus. I was unaware of how common it was.

Designer's Choice

This is the top award of the show. It is given to the design team for overall excellence.


Spirit Award

This award is selected by the Molly’s Fund Board of Directors as their overall favorite showcase.


Table Top Award

This award is for the most creative, fanciful, kick-ass design, whether you can eat at the table or not!


Lighting Award

Recognizes the quality of lighting in enhancing the installation and how the fixtures overall enhances the showcase environment.


Artisan Collaboration

This award is given to the design team that features the best collaboration with local artists and artisans.



This award recognizes the showcase that tells the best overall compelling story.


Award of Merit

This was formerly the Future of Design Award, an award given to a forward thinking, progressive and innovative room. This year the judges felt that the criteria for this award was not met.  However, the presence of materials garnered from countries working to promote free trade and fair practices caught the attention of the judges who decided instead, on an award of merit.

This award is for the public’s favorite showcase by voting at the show or online sponsored by
